Merry Christmas

Woke with a little hangover at 6am... had a wonderful Christmas morning unwrapping gifts with the kids, then we headed over to Madeline's house! Gary needed to leave to drop off William, so Scott backed his truck out of the driveway. He was going less than 5MPH when suddenly the tie rod or ball joint let go and his front tire snapped sideways in such a contorted way, it looked like a broken leg you might see on a late night freak show. The truck smashed to the pavement. *sigh* Thankfully we have AAA, so we called them and they came to tow it for us. We won't know the word on the full damage until tomorrow. I keep reminding myself that we were very lucky we weren't really driving when it happened.
This sums up why I am so looking forward to 2008!

Average... not a great word to describe me!
| You Were Pretty Average This Year |
![]() You Were 55% Naughty, 45% Nice You tried to be a good girl this year... But as you know, being good isn't that fun! If you're extra sweet, you may have enough time to get on that nice list. |
Merry Christmas!
The shopping is done, the gifts are wrapped, the perogies are made... all that's left to do is sit back and enjoy the company of family and friends! :) This year seems to be a magical one in that people are setting aside their differences and coming together and THAT is wonderful thing!
In other news, I ran into an old friend on Facebook that I haven't seen since I got married nearly twelve years ago! How cool is that!? I love that the internet makes the world a whole lot smaller! This particular friend is the one I now refer to as my "first best friend". She and I became best friends in the 5th grade bathroom at Pollard School. She said we each needed to share a secret if we were going to be best friends. She told me she picked her nose and I simply nodded in agreement rather than devulge my own unique secret, LOL
New Year's Eve Update: Scott will be working, especially after being scheduled for today and telling his boss he couldn't work. The party is definitely still on! I have a catering menu from a local place... anyone want to take a look at that? It's a little spendy, but it sure beats wasting time cooking!

It's too early to have the hiccups!
It's 5:25am and I have a raging case of the hiccups! :( It's way too early for this! I have to leave for work in an hour, but it will be my last shift until after Christmas! Yeah!!!!!
I finally started wrapping the presents! I am about halfway done now. If only I could find those gift cards...... *sigh*
My little guy turned 9 this week. I can't believe all of my children are now 9 and older. There was a time when they were all 6 and UNDER and it seems like only yesterday. I miss those days in many ways.
Well, gotta scoot! The shower beckons! Have a great one!

Oh my gosh, 5:30am
Here it is, 5:30am... I have been up for 2 hours after an extremely fitful 3 hours in bed. I have done the laundry, colored my hair, changed the cat litter box, scrapped a new layout and studied for my Humanities test. Just checked online and the kids have a delay. I do not. Sadly that means that the roads that are deamed not safe enough to drive on this morning are the very roads I will be traveling to school! Bummer!

Done!
I am thrilled to share that Scott's trip to the liquor store this week completed our shopping! :) I don't have a single thing wrapped, but hey... I have another week... plenty of time, right?
I have finals at school tomorrow and I CAN'T WAIT! I have been feeling myself on auto-pilot and know I am in need of a break in the worst way! I don't feel entirely prepared, but I don't think any amount of studying would make me feel that way, so BRING IT ON, I say!
Gotta share a cute little Dylan-ism from last week... I called home from work Wednesday night to say goodnight to the kids. Part of my conversation with Dylan went like this-
Mom: I will check in on you when I get home, okay?
Dylan: Won't I be sleeping then?
Mom: Well, yes, you probably will be, but I will check just to make sure you are okay.
Dylan: Mom, You can check on me anytime you want, but I will always be okay.
Awwwwwww, isn't he the sweetest little thing? I am excited that after this week, I will be working less. I hate being away from the kids at night and on the weekends... I hate missing games and having them miss things, too. I hate to let my employer down by cutting back my hours, but I have to keep my eye on what is most important and that is (and will always be) family!
Have a great night! Keep warm wherever you are! :)

I will never be the same.
OK, roll with me here... gotta give you the background before I get to the meat of the story... yesterday when I got home from work (which took 40 mins instead of 15 because of the storm), Scott and I went upstairs to our bed for Hugging Time. (Note: Hugging Time started this summer. We try to spend 5-10 minutes each day simply hugging and connecting, especially when we are working opposite shifts. Yes, I know that probably made you throw up a little in your mouth if you are not a romantic. Anyway, sometimes the pets and kids come hang out and catch up too.) Scott and I were hugging and the dog was laying behind Scott. The boys were chattering on about wanting an early Christmas gift. My arm was wrapped around Scott and I was scratching and patting the dog. Time seemed to stand still as the following few seconds unfolded before me... here were my thoughts:
Hmmmm, this part of the dog feels weird, not quite as much hair as she normally has! Oh! I know, this must be that weird part of her armpit. No! No! No! [rips arm away] [Screaming!!!!!!!!!!!]I totally started screaming and asking the boys which way the dog was facing. When they confirmed her head was towards the door, I knew it was true.
I had patted my dog's B*TTH*LE!.
[Thanks to Kait for the suggestion to change that word. I don't need no stinkin' weirdos stopping by, LOL!]
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I must have screamed for 10 minutes and Scott and the boys hysterically laughed at me! It was a horrifying moment and I have learned never to pat anything I can't see with my own eyes! LOL
In non-gross news, it is a winter wonderland here in NH! We got about 8 inches of snow last night. And guess what! I drove home from work and didn't even have one single bit of anxiety!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously, I was in awe of myself... I can't remember the last time I was able to drive in the snow and remain so calm! I was SO proud of myself!
Just 2 classes left to this semester! I can't believe it's almost over... and I can't believe I have finals Monday! Yikes! Can I hold onto my A+ average!?
Shower time- gotta scoot! Have a great day... and don't touch any dog's buttholes, ok??

And so begins winter...
Well, it really began LAST week with a snow day on Monday but this week 3 of 5 days have inclement weather predicted. :( It's icy this morning... most local schools have a delay but not good ole Auburn! Nope, they are determined to put our children in harm's way any chance they get! Grrrrrr!
My Christmas cards are on their way to me now and I finished a calendar and 7 different magnets yesterday! I am SO glad to have the "handmade" portion of my gift giving done! I just need to get a few more things to even everything out for the kids and I think I am *done*! Yeah me! :)
Gotta scoot to get showered... Scott is driving me to school today! Have a good one! XO

Crossing things off the TO DO list!
I finally got the kid's pictures taken and the Christmas cards designed (and ordered)! I can't wait till they arrive so I can mail them out! Normally I would have had them sent the day before Thanksgiving so they would be the very first card to arrive the day after Thanksgiving! Somehow, life got away from me! At least that's one thing done!
We finally got our tree- much smaller this year- it's 11 feet tall! It fits SO much nicer in our family room and was A LOT less expensive! The kids were really chomping at the bit to get it up and they did a GREAT job decorating it! We love going through all the ornaments remembering all the special ones and where they came from!
In the most super-dee-super exciting news, I am going to be an AUNTIE again! Woohoo! My sister in law (& brother) just found out she is pregnant with her first child (which my gut tells me is a girl)! I am SO thrilled for them as I know they both really wanted this!
Megan's basketball team is still undefeated after 5 games! Yeah Auburn! I just wish all coaches could be as amazing as ours! I was appalled to hear a coach from another town talking trash in front of his team while on the sidelines watching the girls play. Beyond the fact that he sounded like an idiot to the adults around him, he set a terrible example of behavior to the children on his team. :(
I hate to leave things on a bad note, so let me tell you this crazy little story. I got a call at Modell's today. A man asked if we sold sporting goods. Ummmmm, DUH, I just said that when I answered with our hour long spiel, LOL..... the rest of the conversation went like this:
Him: Do you carry GUNS?
Me: No, I'm sorry, we don't.
Him: Do you have any BULLETS?
Me: No, I'm sorry we don't carry those either.
Him: Well, I really need some GUNS & BULLETS!
Me: Uhhhhhhhhh..... I'm sorry, we don't carry those things.
I hung up and basically thought maybe I should call the police until the inter-store phone rang and the same voice said "So, you don't have any guns?" and I realized it was the buffoons in the back room pranking me! LOL Ahhhhhhh, the excitement of retail during the holidays! :)
Have a fabulous Thursday! One more day till the weekend! Yeah!
