Tell me your thoughts....
IS THAT TOTALLY OUT OF LINE OR AM I NUTS!?

Thursday, March 29, 2007Tell me your thoughts....
Another situation has come up today that reminded me of this story I realized I never shared here. I think I was so angry, I didn't even know where to start. As you recall my posting, we had to put our cat, Jasper, to sleep on a Friday night. I made a little scrapbook page in his honor. I had it printed and gave a copy to Megan to hang in her locker on Monday. Her "favorite" teacher saw it and said "The best cat is a dead cat". IS THAT TOTALLY OUT OF LINE OR AM I NUTS!? This teacher is often saying demeaning and rude things to the children (the are 6th graders). Megan loves her, I think in part because she "gets" this teacher's sarcasm. However, I think that TOTALLY crossed the line. This teacher had VERY recently suffered her own loss when she said this to Megan and I feel her dislike of cats should in no way diminish Megan's feelings of sadness. Anyway, like I said, another little "situation" came up with this teacher today. I totally want to say somthing to the school but my boys still have to go through the 6th grade so I guess I'll bide my time.....so back to my original question:
IS THAT TOTALLY OUT OF LINE OR AM I NUTS!? Did ya think I was dead?
Did ya think I was dead? Yeah, me too! Some nameless virus attacked me and put a strangle hold on me. I spiked a fever Monday at work. Came home with the chills and slept under a pile of blankets for 17 hours. I decided to force myself to work on Tuesday because the company hates when employees call in sick. I lasted 2 hours and left. I stayed home again yesterday worse than even the previous 2 days. Today I got up to find my fever was still at 101 so I called the doctor for an appt. According to her, it's viral and just needs to run it's course. She said most run 5-7 days. UGH! I am getting further and further behind each and every day. I know I shouldnt push myself because that will just delay my recovery. *sigh*
While I am here, I might as well fill you in on a few other things! Check out this announcement from ScrapQuick.com! Do you see my name listed TWICE!? That's right- I will be there as a designer and as a page artist! I am SO excited about what Jim and Christine have put together and I know you will be, too! Be sure to stop over on opening day! :) ![]() And now some good news for DIP users... you asked and I listened! ![]() You can view all my templates right here: http://www.thedigichick.com/boutique/index.php?main_page=index&manufacturers_id=50 If you are looking specifically for the PNG+ templates make sure you note the black disc in the upper right on the preview that says "Format:PNG+ for DIP users"! Please pray for good health for me and that none of my family will get sick. Have a wonderful Thursday! XO Monday, March 26, 2007Monday Morning Blues
Man, the weekends go by TOO fast! I had a great time scrapping with Pam and her friends.... I did several pages and got caught up several paper projects that needed tending to (like the PTA scrapbook). I definitely would have been happier with a laptop and 2 EHDs at my portion of the table, though, LOL
The school district meeting was Saturday and Warrant Article 3 did in fact pass by 60 or so votes. It's a shame that the school board is so close minded to looking at all options. A new middle school is surely not the only option. The cost of renovating the existing school, building a new school and 2 sets of admin budgets will surely triple our taxes. Guess we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. In the meantime, all I can do is my part to educate people that there are other options worth looking at. Scott is off skiing with some co-workers today and I must head to work for another busy week with Kim down at High Point for the big furniture trade show. This awesome new recumbent bike is on its way to me now compliments of my Dad: ![]() I am SO looking forward to starting a journey to good health. A little weight loss sure would be nice, too! The shower is beckoning... have a great Monday! XO Friday, March 23, 2007A few things on the fly!
Dude, I so should be in the shower, but I needed to come post a few random bits on the fly!
1. Have you heard about the big sale at TDC? EVERYTHING is 35% off! This includes ALL Chick Click layered templates and Duplicates! It's definitely a great time to stock up and get caught up on all those scrapbook pages! 2. Have you seen the new mini album I collaborated on with Valerie? Check it out here! The preview is SO darned funny! 3. I am cropping with Pam and some of her neighbors this weekend... paper scrapping... can you believe it? 4. I have a list a mile long of things to do today, so I am outta here! Have a great one! XO Tuesday, March 13, 2007Off on a Tuesday....
It's a teacher workshop day so I am off and home with the kids... not getting too much done because I am also babysitting a couple of rugrats! :)
In other town type news, voting is today (I will head over to vote when I pick up Megan from her field trip to the King Arthur Flour Cooking School field trip). We have a big school vote on Friday night as well. I am extremely irritated with the enormous amount of spam I have received regarding this vote. Basically, the vote is whether or not to appoint funds to draw up plans for a new school in Auburn. If you had asked me years ago if I supported a new school, I would have blindly said yes. Now that I am a homeowner and paying an enormous amount in taxes, my tune has changed. Overall, I would consider this a wealthy town and maybe these residents can afford for their taxes to double... I can not. Information about the state of our school is being tainted and twisted. Propaganda in support of this was even included with the delivery of our yearly Town Report a couple weeks ago. I completely disagree with that. Putting that information in there insinuates that the town supports this. How could the "town" support something when the vote has not yet been held?? UGH! So, if I go and vote against this, every other parent in town will call me "anti-child". I think this is completely unfair since I am a Cub Scout co-leader, Cookie Mom for a Girl Scout troop, a member of the PTA and the Mom of 3 children in the school system. I am pro-child, pro-education and pro-family... MY family..... a family that would like to be able to afford to eat in the next 10 years! *sigh* Geesh, I HATE politics. In scrapping chatter, I received some of the new CHA releases from American Traditional Designs yesterday. If you are still paper scrapping, you MUST check out Expressives, Glitter Rub Ons and the new Chipboard Alphas from ATD! Seriously YUMMY stuff! I will be scrapping with my buddy Pam next weekend (at a sleepover at her neighbor's house) so maybe I will even be able to share some layouts with these new goodies shortly thereafter! :) I've got a new set of Click Chick templates coming out this week so check back on Thursday to see a preview! :) Have a great day! :) Sunday, March 11, 2007Yeah! I am back!
Thanks entirely to Mike at Northeast Electronics, I am BACK! Truly, I can't say enough good things about this amazing company! I brought my computer to work with me on Thursday and Mike took it with him when he left. He called me several times that day to update me on the status as well as what he found out. The next day, I got a call around 1pm that it was ready for pick up. I hopped in the car, swung by the liquor store for a bottle of Ketel One for my favorite computer guru and headed to grab my PC. I am still in the process of reinstalling software and such, but Mike was able to salvage all the important files that I needed! Yeah! :) <---- That's me still grinning ear to ear!
So, peeps! You're totally giving me a complex on my contest (a couple posts back). I *know* scrappers have bought my templates so how come no entries? Hmmmmmmmmm? Show me ya love me, would ya? ;) Don't make me beg to give away free stuff! lol Weekend Update: Victoria had a play off game yesterday. Sadly, they lost to Northwood so their season is over. Dane had a play off game yesterday as well but his team won so he will play again next weekend. Dane and Dylan are both at the Basketball Jamboree today! I am home working on some new templates and thinking about how much Rachel made me want a glass of wine with her drunk post! LOL Hope your weekend is as bright and sunny as ours! Wednesday, March 07, 2007I hate Best Buy!
Remember my woeful tale of my computer crashing? Scott took it to Best Buy on Friday. He was told it would take 4-5 days to back up and restore. We were charged $300 on the spot. The paperwork said the estimated return date was Monday. Scott called Monday and was told they were working on it and to call the next day. Scott called Tuesday and was told it was almost done and to call today. Scott called today and was told it hadn't been started yet! ARE YOU KIDDING ME!? He asked to speak to a a manager. He was told the manager would call back in 5 minutes. A half hour later the manager called back and was extremeley rude. Apparently its acceptable practice for their employees to LIE to customers. Apparently an estimated return time means nothing. Despite the fact that a back up supposedly takes DAYS, Scott was told that if we would have upgraded to the home service, it would have been done in one night. Interesting. Scott ended up going down to pick up my computer (which they probably infected with viruses) and get a refund. My Best Buy days are over and I will be sharing this story with everyone and everyone who ever considers using the Geek Squad including the BBB. I wish I had thought to check online for reviews first because since I posted at DST, I have heard countless horror stories about the horrible quality of work and poor customer service. So, all that to say this... if you choose to go there after reading this, don't say I didn't warn ya!
So, anyone have any ideas on how I can get the OS restored on my computer? Also, my friend Sherri's baby, Brady, is in a cute baby contest! You can cast your vote for him right here: http://www.clix-nh.com/ Click the link on the left hand side of the page that says "Cutest Kid Contest". He is entry number 1133 (it's a sepia photo and he is wearing an argyle sweater with a big smile)! I don't even think she gets a prize if he is selected, but it would be fun to see his cute little face on the marketing materials for this company. Guess that's it for tonight! Have a great one! Tuesday, March 06, 2007It's a Chick Click Contest!
Ok, Chick Click loving peeps, its time for a contest!
Here’s how it will work: 1. Use any Chick Click Layered template (found at The Digi Chick: http://www.thedigichick.com/boutique/index.php?manufacturers_id=50&main_page=index) to create your layout. 2. Upload your creation to my Designer Gallery at The Digi Chick: http://www.thedigichick.com/gallery/showgallery.php/cat/1060 3. Copy and paste the URL from the address bar of your layout into the comments of this post on my blog along with a way you to contact you (email, TDC and DST username for PM, etc) 4. Do the above by 3/31/2007 at midnight Eastern time. Two winners will be drawn at random and will each win all of the Chick Click Collections released in April! On your mark, get set, GO SCRAP! Saturday, March 03, 2007Is there an elephant in the room?
Is there an elephant in the room? No, no, thats a DINOSAUR! That's right, I am typing to you live from the other side of the living room on the "old" computer, the one the kids inherited when I got my new one in July.
Yesterday, shortly after I posted, we lost power during the snow storm. A few hours later when the power came back on, I learned that my computer was not breathing. :( When Scott got home from skiing, he called tech support and was told that it could be fixed with a reformat but I would lose all the data saved to my hard drive. NOT okay. He called the Geek Squad and ended up bringing it to Best Buy (which is NOT where we bought it, btw, but I dont trust the place we bought it since they couldnt move all the data from my old computer in the first place). Supposedly they will be able to save my data before they reformat. They will have my precious computer for 4-5 days. *sigh* I SO hope this works because I was in the middle of a rather large project and REALLY need that data and need the machine back ASAP. Today was the dreaded Girl Scout cookie pick up. I didn't get notification of pick up time until 12:15pm... pick up started at noon. Gotta tell ya, I love the Girl Scout concept but man, cookie stuff is a NIGHTMARE and council doesn't do a THING to improve it. I guess they don't have to care when they make all the money from the sales! Yes, I am bitter. Every year I say its my last year and every year Megan decides to stay with scouting and I say "How can I not do my part?" when there are so many people giving so much more of themselves to lead! *sigh* So, if you can believe it, I paper scrapped today! A manufacturer (that I am not sure I can name) contacted me to do some pages. They shipped the stuff overnight yesterday and I need to ship it back out Tuesday. Nothing like a little pressure to get your creative juices flowing! :) While looking for some pics to scrap with, I came across SO many from when the kids were little and I just can't believe how fast time has gone by. It's truly amazing to see how much they have changed. I can't imagine what things will be like in another few years! Once I get my computer back, I am going to have to scan some of them in. You simply wont believe it. Anyway, it's 9:30pm here on the east coast so I am going to wrap this up and head to bed. I didn't fall asleep until 2am last night and didn't have a nap today, LOL. Have a great night! XO Friday, March 02, 2007I'm trying out!
Yes, it's true, I am trying out for "Bad Blogger of the Year" award, rotfl :) I apologize for letting my blog slip behind. I'll try to get you all updated in this mega long post! :)
It's the last day of Winter Break for the kiddos. I am off today and Scott took Megan, Dane & Dylan skiing along with Megan's friend Aubre! :) Of course, I am beyond nervous but I am trying to put those thoughts out of my mind and get caught up on some projects I am behind on. Earlier this week we took our annual winter trip to Ogunquit Maine. We stayed at The Falls at Ogunquit and headed up to Kennebunkport for dinner. The kids are always amazingly well behaved when we travel. It was a nice time and the perfect getaway. Scott and I celebrated 11 years of wedded bliss this week! It's hard to believe how quickly the time has passed. I am definitely more in love with him today than even the day we married! xo... smooches, honey! Lots of new stuff up in the boutique at The Digi Chick! ![]() Link to purchase: http://www.thedigichick.com/boutique/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=1567 ![]() Link to purchase: http://www.thedigichick.com/boutique/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=1568 ![]() Link to purchase: http://www.thedigichick.com/boutique/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=23_28&products_id=1583 And... look what else is happening at The Digi Chick: ![]() To receive this kit free, simply fill your shopping cart with $10 or more in yummy goodies, then add this kit for a total order of $20 or more. At checkout, enter coupon code springfever-0307 to subtract the cost of the kit. How cool is that!? As of March 1st, I have a brand new Duplicates Guest CT member! Please help me welcome Amber Evans! Her gallery can be found right here! In other Guest CT news, Shawna Clingerman has asked me to be HER guest for the month of March! I was elated because I simply adore her... her the person... her the designer... and her the scrapper! It's going to be another great month in digiland for sure! :) I know I am probably forgetting some things I had planned to write about, but I really need to get started with my day so I will close for now! Happy Friday, everyone! XO |
