A few updates...

Thanks for all your sympathies regarding Jasper. The boys are back in control with some pictures to keep in their desks at school to remember him by. He was really young (6 1/2 yrs) but led a very full life. It comforts us to think of him in heaven eating tuna and chasing mice.

Megan had her appt with the pediatric othopaedic specialist. The degree of curve in her spine is only 5 which is great news but we did learn that one leg is shorter than the other so we will be keeping an eye on this. First the lazy eye, now this... do I dare ask what other weird things Megan has in store for us?

I invited the very first Guest Creative Team member for Duplicates and Chick Click Templates- Catrina Jensen of Utah! I swamped her with goodies and can't wait till Feb 1st to see what she has created! :) The rest of the Creative Team is hard at work as well... I am really working these girls fingers to the bone, LOL (I promise girls, I *will* slow down!)

Megan has a game today at noon and then my buddies are coming over for a day of scrapping! Yes, paper scrapping! Can you believe it? It's been much too long since we all got together!

Scott and the kids went skiing with his Aunt Cassandra this week on Thursday and had a great time. Sadly, there are no photos to document the trip besides these that I took as they were leaving because I had to stay home and work:

Remembering Jasper

Wednesday, January 24, 2007

There is a first time for everything!

It's been a while since I have had a first. I mean, my first steps were more than 32 years ago! LOL Today was the first time...... I ran out of gas!!!!!!!!! I have never done that before. The gas guage in my car doesn't work so I always set the trip counter and fill up every 250 miles. I was at about 235 miles on the guage on my way home from picking up Victoria and the car stalled out and that was the end. I couldn't imagine how I could get the couple miles up the street to my house to meet the bus with just 5 mins to go! Thankfully a kind gentlemen pulled over and offered us a ride. He even turned around from where he was going to make the trip! Isn't that sweet!? Of course I did whisper to Victoria "I hope he isn't a murderer", lol

Photobucket - Video and Image HostingSpeaking of first, I forgot to share that I got my very first piece of Oak Designs furniture! It was ordered twice in error, so there it was, just waiting to be bought up for a screaming deal! I am now the proud owner of a RK LB2472 in 33 with 88 tops. (That's secret code for Rockport Library Chest with 2 drawers and 3 adjustable shelves painted brick with Nutmeg tops.). I LOVE it! I have it in my dining room even though it doesn't really match right now. It's just too nice to put in the kid's rooms, LOL, although I do have a wishlist a mile long of funiture I would like for their rooms starting with new dressers. One thing at a time, though...

And finally, one more thing...

My Duplicates team has agreed to co-serve as the Chick Click Chickies and they are hard at work creating layouts to share when the Click Chick Templates go live on February 1st! Check back for previews and details! :)

I am so nervous!

Just over 2 hours until my Creative Team call ends. I have recived TWENTY EIGHT APPLICATIONS... all from extremely talented scrappers! How on earth am I supposed to turn anyone away? *sigh* This is definitely the crappy part of a CT call. The fun part will be getting to know the girls I finally narrow it down to and watching them go wild with the Duplicates Quickpages and Templates! :)

I really am excited to have a team... I never dreamed when I started digi scrapping and applying for CT's myself that I would one day have a team of my own! That just tickles me pink!

So, a little looksie in my gallery would tell you that I haven't been doing much scrapping but that would be the opposite of the truth! In fact, in less than a week, I have completed 52 12x12 layouts, 5 Mini Albums, some cards and a few other random projects as well. Want me to share? Well, I can't! Sorry! lol It is for a super-de-dooper fun project that I hope I will one day be able to post about but for now, it's TOP SECRET! I am only sharing this much so you know I am not a scrap slacker! LOL

It was another super busy weekend here. Friday night Megan had a game and the boys had a Pack Meeting. Saturday Megan had another game, then Victoria had a game, Dane had a birthday party to go to and then Dylan had a game, too! Sunday Dane had a game and then we watched THE BIGS PATS GAME! Woohoo! GO PATS!

Today the long awaited winter began... but no snow to speak of, its all ICE! Yuck! I absolutely hate ice! Its not even pretty to look at and its so dang dangerous! Scott drove me to my eye doctor appt this afternoon. I was shaking by the time we got there, I was so nervous! I sure hope things have cleared up by the morning commute!

Hope you had a great weekend! Hugs & kisses! :)

Two-for-One special!

That's right... two posts in one day for your reading pleasure! :)

Where oh where to begin? Well, I guess I will start where I ended last. Oh yes, last time we read about Rachael's crazy antics, she was just about to take a shower and get her daughter at school for a day's worth of appointments...insert dramatic music playing in the background.....

Took Megan to her PCP for a scoliosis check. He examined her and agreed with the nurse's evaluation that Megan's clavical bone was higher on one side and he did also notice some curve to her spine (not indicated by the nurse). The only way to have a definitive answer is to have x-rays done so he referred her to the same orthopedic specialist that Victoria sees. Megan will be having x-rays in 2 weeks.

Next was an exciting all expense paid trip (well, $25 co-pay by me anyway) to the eye doctor! Megan saw the doctor that Dane has been seeing (love her!). First she had Megan read the eye chart. Then she held this small piece of black plastic in front of each eye while having Megan focus forward. While this piece covered her right eye, both eyes stayed forward. When it covered her left eye, the left eye would roll in. It was so strange, I actually jumped out of my seat! I guess Dr Durant thought it was something, too, because she went to get another doctor to check it out. Both of them then reviewed what was happening in Megan's eye and agreed they had never seen such a thing happen to only one eye before. Long story short (or shorter, anyway), I guess Megan has a lazy eye! I have been ruthlessly teasing her about it all day (all in fun, I swear!) The funny thing is, she had just said to me this weekend "How come I always look cross eyed in all my pictures?" I laughed it off at the time but once we were at the eye doctor's and I recalled that comment, I realized there was some truth to it. So her official diagnosis is esotropia with mild amblyopia. Her vision in one eye is considered blurry but correction lenses wouldn't help so she is off the hook for wearing glasses. She also has issues with depth perception. The doctor suggested she may have difficulty playing sports or parallel parking. I'm thinking she is doing pretty well in sports despite her issue and like Pam says "Who doesn't have trouble parallel parking, anyway"? lol

So, that is my medical update for the day! Now onto other things in the life of me (yeah, it's all about me on my blog, lol)... I picked up Victoria at her dad's and took her to Pinkerton for the Course Preview Night! They are offering 279 different courses for the 07/08 school year so we will have our work cut out for us narrowing things down! ;) Mr Varney was running the lecture style event... I had to laugh when I recalled that just 16 years ago, he was giving me more detentions than I could count on my fingers and toes! lol Hopefully Victoria will get off to a better start with him than I did. At least I have a married name now so hopefully he won't recognize me!

The campus was big when I was there but you should see it now- it's HUGE! As a matter of fact, let me show you......
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
The kids only have 7 minutes to change classes! Can you imagine getting from one side of campus to the other? And yes, this is a HIGH SCHOOL, not a college!

In other news, the Sketch Challenge #21 is up at TDC!

Check out all the details and download the layered version of the sketch from this thread!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting And finally, I will close this post with a little TOOT TOOT! I was very excited to receive an email letting me know that a layout I created has been spotlighted on the Dishin' the Digi- Coast 2 Coast show on DiScTalkRadio. The show will run from 01/09 - 01/15. You don't need to be a subscriber but you must register to listen for free! :) Check it out, it should be fun!

Have a great night! Smooches all!

Woooooooooooooooooo!

Yeah, I just felt like screaming, LOL I'll be okay! ;)

Sunday recap:
11am- Dane's basketball game
2:15pm- Victoria's basketball game
4pm- Dylan's basketball game
3 wins for the day plus a nice win from the Patriots! Can't ask for more than that!

Saturday night with Megan was a blast! I TOTALLY loved getting a pedicure even though I have really ticklish feet! I did a cute layout of the two of us that you can see right here.

I am off today to take Megan to the family doctor and then to the eye doctor. She got a referral from the school for both as a part of the Scoliosis and Vision screenings. Both "letters" request that the doctor fill out a form indicatating the diagnosis and treatment plans. Ummmmm, what? How exactly is this your business? I mean, thanks for the screening and thanks for the heads up on my daughter, but really, I can take it from here. I mentioned my thoughts on this to Megan yesterday and she said "Well, you probably wouldn't follow up if you didn't have to get something signed". ARE YOU KIDDING ME!? When have I *not* been the most responsible parent, especially when it comes to healthcare????? Anyway, I know this rant is really about nothing and it shouldn't matter if the school nurse knows the outcome. I guess after all these years I must still have a little touch of rebellion in me! ;)

It's raining here again today. Still no significant snow to speak of. Skiing was cancelled for the boys last week. We are hopeful the mountain was able to make enough snow to start lessons this week. I sure hope they make up the dates at the end of the lessons, too, because it cost quite a pretty penny to send them.

Guess that about covers all the news this way! Have an awesome Monday!

Happy Saturday!

Weekend check in live from NH! :) Got up fairly early, finished the second coat of blue paint in the boys room, showered, did a couple loads of laundry and headed to Megan's basketball game. Her team won... they are 7-0 now! This afternoon we spent several hours "putting away Christmas". The room looks GREAT and I can't wait to keep it that way... until next Christmas, lol :) My friend Kim called with 3 tickets to the Monarchs game tonight, so Scott is going to meet her and take the boys and Megan and I are going to get a pedicure! That is something I have always wanted to do. I even put it on my resolution list for this year, so there is no time like the present. :)

The girls finally decided on comforters for their room and AMAZINGLY, they are going to be the same! Isn't this the cutest set!? I bought them off eBay. Once they arrive, we will choose paint and then begin that fiasco all over again, LOL :)

Hoping you are all having a wonderful weekend! XO

OK, this sleep thing MUST stop!

I slept like crap again last night. I went to bed at 10:30pm. Fell asleep around 1am. Woke at 4am and didn't fall asleep again until 6. Back up for the day at 7:15ish! That totally does not cut it for me, especially after such a crappy night's sleep last night.

Just got a call from the vet! He said he believes Jasper can heal on his own with rest, confinement and medication! I will be picking him up after work! Yeah! :)

New at The Digi Chick today (and 20% off for one day only)...

Jasper Update

Thanks to those of you keeping Jasper in your thoughts. I took him to the vet and ended up leaving him for x-rays and some pain meds. The vet called this afternoon to let us know that Jasper has a fracture in his pelvis (the last vertabrae just before the back meets the tail). She also mentioned something being detached. This is effecting his siatic nerve which is probably what caused him to drag his leg. He is not out of the woods yet as he hasn't gone to the bathroom. They are not sure if that is from nerve damage or just him holding it since he is an "outdoor kind of cat". They are keeping him overnight and will have another vet give a second option in the morning. So basically, we aren't sure what is going to happen yet.

I can't believe my dog broke my cat. *sigh*

Happy New Year!

I have a bad habit of not blogging until I have some pics to share from the last event I mention... in this case, New Year's Eve! I have done a couple quick layouts from the night, but expect more because I have nearly 200 funny photos!

I just love the layout of Lesley & me. We were goofing off early in the night. Since her eyes are ALWAYS closed in pictures, I decided to help her keep them open, LOL :)

So, I had one of the worst night's sleep of my life last night. I was tossing and turning so I decided to get up around 11pm. I came downstairs to check email and the dog started chasing the cat. There was a loud bang and I yelled at the dog. Scott came running downstairs to see if I fell because all the noise woke him up. Shortly thereafter, I found the cat in a corner of the basement. He was meowing, which is really inlike him. He isnt much of a talker. I went to get him a can of wet food to coax him out. He crawled out DRAGGING HIS BACK LEGS BEHIND HIM! I freaked out and ran upstairs to get Scott saying "The cat is going to die!!" Scott went downstairs to assess the situation (like any good man should in the middle of the night). We weren't able to get too close to the cat (he is a nasty one by nature and doesn't like to be held even on a good day). We left a towel for the cat to sleep on and went up to bed. I layed in bed praying that God would take Jasper if that was His Will. I tossed and turned and counted sheep. I thought about how we may have to bury the cat and how sad the kids would be. Just as I was about to fall asleep around 2am, there was some commotion across the street and a car horn woke me up. *sigh* I tossed and turned another hour. I finally fell asleep around 3am and had some very strange dreams (for the second night in a row). I woke at 5:30pm and layed there wondering if I was ready to go check on the cat. I was convinced he would be dead and I was wondering how I would tell the kids, especially Megan. Scott woke and told me he had checked on the cat an hour before. The cat had actually moved to the other side of the basement. When we went down together, we couldnt find Jasper. Then we spotted him, up on a pile of clean sheets! How he could jump with his legs like they were the night before, I can't imagine! Maybe he just pulled a muscle or something? I couldn't believe it! This cat has used SO many lives already, it's ridiculous! So, now it's 6:40am, I am awake and still watching to see what will happen and if a trip to the vet will be in order. I am so ticked at the dog. I know Duchess was just trying to play with the cat and that she would never mean to harm him, but ultimately, that may be what happened. *sigh*

ETA at 9am: I am taking the cat to the vet at 10:15am. I hope all goes well and that we are able to help him.

I guess that's all for this morning! Have a great Hump Day! :)
